SUMMARY:MEP CSEE Munich 2024
DESCRIPTION:Image by Leif Linding from Pixabay \nHonorable delegates\, committee presidents\, teachers\, directors\, coordinators and further participants of the Central- and Southeastern European MEP session in Munich! \nWe’re delighted to welcome you in the beautiful city of Munich to this year’s CSEE MEP session. Welcome to southern Germany\, to the capital of the Free State of Bavaria\, where German history in a nutshell comes together with modern thinking and culture from all over the world.Since many people consider Bavarian culture the germaness itself\, all of you will of course get to know everything between Schnitzel\, Beer\, Lederhosen and brass music. Although Bavaria is definitely not everything in Germany\, Munich will cast its own special spell consisting of history\, great architecture and cuisine\, a unique mentality and politics on you. On a quick stroll through the city center you can experience this special flair.   \nAfter your arrival at Munich Central Station in January it’s just a short way from there to the cultural and historic city center\, the Marienplatz. You will see the old and new town halls\, Old Peter’s Church with a great view over Munich and also the Frauenkirche. Just a short walk from there you’ll get to the Max-Josephs-Platz at the end of the famous Maximilian’s street with the National Theatre\, the Bavarian State Opera and the Munich Residence. Next to the Max-Josephs-Platz you’ll find yourself at the beautiful Odeonsplatz with the famous Feldherrnhalle\, the Theatine Church and the Hofgarten. \nIn contrast to this beautiful surface of the city you will also have to realize that Munich has been home to Europe’s dark times in the last century. On 9th November 1923\, 100 years ago\, the hitler coup took place\, in the end at the Odeonsplatz\, with a march of lots of far-right\, anti-democratic\, national-socialist putschists\, which was just the beginning. Through intensive efforts to democracy it was possible to leave the dark times behind. As the venue for the Munich Security Conference\, capital of the Free State of Bavaria\, seat of many high German courts and the European Patent Office Munich has shown how to start a common democratic future. But today we have to defend democratic values more and more. \nThis session might be an enormous opportunity for all of us whether in regards to democracy or personal development. In the context of this CSEE meeting it is on you dear delegates to move your local issues and behalf in the center of the attention of Europe. And this applies to a wide range of urgent European topics\, from youth poverty\, AI in various areas of life\, dealing with misinformation\, and many more.  \nMake this session yours\, together! And please do so with great motivation and effort\, creativity\, out-of-the-box-thinking and  constructive and sometimes heated debates based on well researched information. To make it easier for you to get into your committee topics please mind the provided fact sheets but do not rely on this and create the base for your personal implementations meticulously.  \nThe Presidency of course requests in old german and MEP tradition punctuality\, effort in the committee meetings and the general assembly as well as a bright smile all day long representing the pleasure of being part of a great community and being given the extraordinary opportunity of shaping Europe to its best.\nOn behalf of the entire Presidency it is an honor for us to welcome you at the MEP CSEE session in Munich\, Germany. Debate\,and  find solutions in a broad democratic consensus even if it’s getting hard sometimes! The results will make up for everything! Let’s make this time a great success for everyone! We are looking forward to seeing you all in January! \nOn behalf of the presidency\,  \nJonas Paul Besch\, Tom Faßhauer and Helene Werner\nPresidents of the MEP CSEE Munich 2024 \n  \nMedia\n“Man muss verstehen\, wie es in der Politik läuft”Article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung (South German Newspaper) - SUMMARY:MEP CSEE BudaReg 2019
DESCRIPTION:Welcome NoteSession PreparationDownloadsWelcome Note\nEsteemed Members of the Model European Parliament\,\nIt is my utmost honour and pleasure to cordially welcome you\, on behalf of the Presidency\, to the 5th Central and South East European Regional Session of the Model European Parliament. \nLying in the heart of Central Europe\, Budapest emblematizes a bridge\, establishing connections within Europe. In the course of the week ahead of us\, the city will host an event\, which extends the reach of this network by overstepping borders of the European Union. The Central and South East European Regional Session is not exclusively a platform enabling the exchange on issues of both European and regional relevance\, but also a celebration embracing our shared European and common regional identity. \nWe all are inheritants of this shared European legacy\, dear delegates. Therefore\, amid rising euroscepticism and several challenges lying ahead\, it is our right and responsibility to shape the future vision of our community\, aiming for the improvement and endurance of the European Project. We need to make our voices heard in order to chart the right path ahead for Europe. \nThe Budapest 2019 presidency \nSession PreparationPreparation Modules\n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Order By:\n Publish Date\n Title\n Update Date\n Downloads\n Views\n \n \n \n \n Order:\n Descending\n Ascending\n \n \n \n Apply Filter\n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n FEMM Prep Module - SUMMARY:MEP CSEE Vienna 2018
DESCRIPTION:Honourable Members of the Model European Parliament\, \nIt is with uttermost honor\, pride and esteem that we welcome you all\, on behalf of the entire Presidency\, to the 4th Central and South East European Regional session of the Model European Parliament to the heart of Europe\, to Austria’s beautiful capital Vienna and the monastic jewel on its perimeter Klosterneuburg. \nThis meeting not only brings together young people from all over Central and South East Europe for a cultural exchange but also provides you with a platform to voice your concerns and ideas for a new Europe. We therefore are especially pleased to welcome both representatives of EU member states and of the candidate/applicant countries the Republic of North Macedonia\, Albania and Kosovo. This exciting mix will ensure that you can tackle your committee issues from various points of views\, as the problems can only be solved together. Together is probably the word that describes MEP best. In the course of this week\, you will all eat together\, live together but most importantly work together on your very own resolution. And finally\, after the General Assembly\, you will celebrate together\, regardless whether your resolution has passed or not. \nThis sense of unity is also reflected in the committee issues\, which address important issues concerning all of us. We\, as young Europeans\, have to come up with solutions to problems like growing unemployment among young people and youth empowerment. Moreover\, due to our geographic position\, most of our counties are dependent on oil imports from non-EU-member states\, either for energy usage or for plastic production\, two other committee issues you will discuss at this session. Of course\, these issues also include the problem of interfaith dialogue and gender equality\, two topics of great importance in our ever-changing union. \nThe MEP gathers the brightest and most ambitious of Europe’s young minds\, so make sure to speak up! Where else would you have the possibility to voice your opinions and join young people from all over Europe in a mutual debate? It is certainly not always easy to find consensus and come up with an innovative solution\, especially when you have strong opinions on certain topics. However\, learning to find a good compromise in a debate\, which often entails strong disagreements\, is probably one of the most important lesson to learn at an MEP. \nThe Model European Parliament enables just that: a step in the right direction\, a way to engage in current political as well as societal issues and most importantly it provides a means to come together\, despite all differences\, and find a common solution for a common problem. This is what solidarity should entail. \nThreats that the EU has to face today include the June 2016 vote in the United Kingdom (UK) in favor of leaving the EU\, the Greek debt crisis and lingering concerns about the eurozone\, the ongoing migrant and refugee flows\, a resurgent Russia\, and lastly a heightened terrorism threat. Amid these difficult issues\, the future shape and character of the European Project in the wake of Western Balkans EU enlargement are being increasingly questioned. This is where your part comes into play. \nThis – right now – is the time to stand together; to pool our ideas and energy to be unified once again. To protect the values the EU holds: respect for human dignity and human rights\, freedom\, democracy\, equality and the rule of law. You are all vital in maintaining these values. \nWe therefore are sure that you will remain open hearted and open minded to your fellow committee members and fellow delegates. If you embrace the opportunity you will make grand friendships\, get to know copious diverse opinions and perspectives. We advise you to be ready to defend your opinion but also to honor and assent others’ opinions while keeping in mind that it is of great necessity to find common ground and move on to make further progress. \nTherefore\, seize this opportunity to broaden your horizon and exchange ideas with teenagers from all over Europe. You always meet twice\, so build up long lasting friendships. But most importantly\, engage in the fruitful debates this week. Europe needs you. Vincent Van Gogh once said: “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” May this be your aim in this year’s Central and South East European Regional session of the Model European Parliament. \nWe wish you an unforgettable experience at the MEP CSEE in Vienna and Klosterneuburg! \nOn behalf of the Presidency\, \nPaula Breyer\, Lea Giglmayr and Oskar Weihs \n\nOskar Weihs and Paula Breyer \nLea Giglmayr

SUMMARY:MEP CSEE Sofia 2016
DESCRIPTION:Martin StoyanovPresident of MEP CSEE Sofia \nHonorable delegates and committee presidents\,\nThe Presidency of MEP CSEE Sofia 2016 is excited to have you in Sofia for the second-ever MEP CSEE regional session. \nIn October\, you will have the chance to meet your peers from the Central and South East European region and discuss some of the most important topics and problems in Europe and our region right now. Through fruitful debates and discussions\, you will be able to provide innovative and interesting ideas and gather valuable experience. We live in times where the European Union needs to stand united more than ever in order to face the challenges which are upon us. And for this to happen\, our region needs to strengthen internally. Connecting the CSEE region will not only provide improvement in economic\, social\, cultural and educational terms for our region but also for the European Union as a whole. Given that you are the future of Europe\, we firmly believe that this regional session is a great step in the right direction in order to achieve a strong and united CSEE region. \nThis session will give you access to more information and create awareness of current problems\, and you will have the opportunity to explore and get to know more about Bulgaria and its rich history and culture\, one of the oldest in Europe. During the cultural evening and the free time in Bulgaria’s two biggest cities – Sofia and Plovdiv\, we sincerely hope that you will enjoy the diversity and rich history of my home country. \nGoing back several thousand years\, Bulgarians have left their mark on history not only in a political sense\, but also on a cultural and scientific one. Several current examples for this are John Atanasoff (the inventor of the first electronic digital computer ABC)\, Irina Bokova (current candidate for the post of UN Secretary-General)\, Hristo Stoichkov (1994 winner of the Balon d’Or and FC Barcelona legend). \nWhile Bulgaria might be in the middle of the pack in regards to its size\, Bulgarians have the warmest and biggest hearts. We believe that our hospitality will give you the chance to feel just like at home and give you the opportunity to create wonderful and creative resolutions to tackle the problems the EU is facing. \nWe sincerely hope that we will exceed your expectations and that you will have a pleasant stay and a fruitful MEP session this October. \n  \nMartin Stoyanov\, \nPresident of MEP CSEE Sofia \n\nDownloads\nProgramme:\n\n  \nCommittee Issues:\n\n  \nSession preparation materials:\nplease check out our blog page for more prep. materials

SUMMARY:MEP CSEE Bucharest 2015
DESCRIPTION:  \nWELCOME NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENCY\n \nHonourable Delegates and Committee Presidents\, \nWelcome to the first regional session of the Model European Parliament Central and South East Europe in Bucharest. \nAuthentic\, natural and cultural are the words that best capture the essence of Romania\, a dynamic country rich in history\, arts and scenic beauty located in South Eastern Europe. \nFor most of you it may seem easy to imagine a world without Romania. So many negative images from this emerging country in Eastern Europe have gone around the globe these past eight years since joining the European Union. Nevertheless\, there is an eclectic mix of facts binding Romanian culture to its neighbours and many other EU Member States. What is the first thing that comes to your mind when thinking of vampires? There is no young adult that has never come across the bloody legend of count Dracula. So why not see Romania as a „fang-tastic“ destination for vampire lovers. But let me give you some more enlightened thoughts about Romania. \nThe first pen\, insulin\, the jet plane are just a few of the inventions made by Romanians. Although there are more interesting facts to know about our culture there are some incredible achievements performed by Romanian athletes: the first ever 10 in the history of gymnastics was given to Nadia Comaneci at the Olympic Games in 1976\, and in 1986 Steaua Bucharest won the Champions League title. Surprisingly\, the second most spoken language at Microsoft is Romanian. \nBut let us go back to the most important parts of our local culture; we are used to be called the owners of the most delicious dishes and wines in the world! \nWe are happy to welcome you to Bucharest\, our lively capital city\, for you to gather the experience of a unique MEP session held in the world´s largest civilian building\, the Romanian Palace of the Parliament. \nIt is up to you to use your imagination and come up with creative solutions to pressing current issues the EU is facing. On the whole we can promise you a once in a lifetime cultural and intellectual experience! \nDear all: Bucharest waits for you. \nThe MEP CSEE Bucharest Presidency \nMaria Hajdu (Romania) \nKay Kaufmann (Austria) \nŽan Hozjan (Slovenia) \n  \n\nDownloads: \n\nProgramme\nCommittee Issues\nCommittee President Teams\nThe (MEP) Sun – Session Newspaper\nResolution booklet\nConference booklet\n\n  \n\nNat. coordinator: Victor Drujinin \nschool coordinator: Ian Edwards
